Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship

Creating growth and competition in local businesses

About the Center

Consistent with its role as a part of Nebraska's Land Grant University, the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship (NCE) strives to fulfill the University of Nebraska's responsibility to students who aspire to create jobs rather than take jobs.

Mission

The mission of the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship is to inspire and empower UNL students to become world-class entrepreneurs and to help create an entrepreneurial environment that encourages them to do it here. We fulfill this mission by:

  • Encouraging students to consider ownership as an alternative career path;
  • Enabling students to identify new business opportunities;
  • Training students to understand and be able to accept the responsibilities of ownership;
  • Facilitating mentor relationships with business owners in order to improve their odds for success through incubation, apprenticeship, and/or personal consultation; and
  • Connecting students who have plans for new ventures and those who have the financial ability to make these plans become realities.

Education

The Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship's non-traditional experientially-oriented curriculum teaches theory and skills that have been associated with the highest probability of entrepreneurial success. The undergraduate entrepreneurship curriculum consists of 8 courses. The NCE also offers 5 courses at the graduate level. All courses are elective and students from other colleges have no prerequisite requirements.
