What's New

Fall 2007

Classrooms and Labs Move to Office 2007

Microsoft Office 2007 will be the sole version of Office loaded on all of the CBA lab and classroom computers. Microsoft Office XP will not coexist due to an automated reconfiguration process that takes several minutes to run each time a user switches back and forth between versions. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the new Office 2007 user interface before the fall semester to avoid confusion while using the lab or classroom computers.

Office 2007 can be installed on your office computer by your request. See http://cba.unl.edu/its/webforms/ServiceRequest/ to submit a service request online. See http://cba.unl.edu/its/training/index.asp for in-house Office 2007 training or http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx for reference materials, tutorials and other related information.

Computer Classroom 33/38 Upgrade

Classroom 33/38 upgrades include new small form computers, three systems to a table instead of two and improved cable management solutions. Based on instructors needs, the total number of classroom computers was increased from 18 to 27 to provide greater individual student access. Seating capacity will remain at 36.

Help Desk Reconfiguration

The CBA Help Desk Room 23 has been renovated and reconfigured to provide digital visual information sharing, product demonstrations and just-in-time technology learning activities for faculty, staff and students.

The Help Desk is also a faculty-support center that provides consulting services, training, and access to state-of-the-art computer equipment for faculty who are interested in incorporating technology into the teaching/learning process. The Help Desk has knowledgeable staff who can demonstrate the latest instructional technologies, assist you with using these technologies, and provide advice on how to best meet your instructional goals.

The new Help Desk also serves as a pilot project for the College to investigate digital display options for faculty, staff and student consumption.

Along with the technical resources and services, the Help Desk is also a social area for faculty, staff and students - a comfortable hub for social engagement and a learning hotspot. Wireless access can also be found at the Help Desk, as well as throughout the College.

Come join us at our Help Desk Open House on September 13th from 10-2pm to find out more.
