Robert Mittelstaedt Marketing Doctoral Symposium

Each spring, the Marketing Department at UNL hosts the Robert Mittelstaedt Marketing Doctoral Symposium. Modeled after the Haring Symposium held annually at Indiana University, participant schools send representatives to Lincoln for a two-day Symposium emphasizing dissertation research.

Participant schools include the University of Arkansas, Baylor University, the University of Colorado, the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, the University of Missouri, the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Texas Tech University, the University of Texas-Austin, Louisiana State University, the University of Utah, the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and Washington State University.

The Symposium starts with a cocktail party in the home of a faculty member on a Thursday evening. All day Friday and Saturday morning, presentations of dissertation research are made by doctoral students, followed by comments from doctoral discussants and then by discussion from the audience as a whole. Friday evening there is a banquet, and the Symposium ends with lunch on Saturday. Participant schools are asked to pay for transportation to and from Lincoln and for lodging at the Embassy Suites. The UNL Marketing Department covers the cost of the meals and the Symposium proceedings. There is no registration fee.
